Tabs

Tab groups

Sort your tabs into Chrome’s tab groups by site, add a tab to a group, or rename one, without right-clicking through menus.

Commands

Group Tabs by Domain
Put this window’s tabs into one group per site
Add to Group...
Add this tab to a group, or start a new one
Ungroup This Tab
Take this tab out of its group
Rename Current Group
Give this tab’s group a new name

Chrome’s tab groups keep a busy window in order, but the controls live in right-click menus. Vokto puts them a few keys away.

Group tabs by site

Group Tabs by Domain sorts the tabs in this window into one group per website. Each group is named after its site and gets its own color, so they are easy to tell apart.

A site with only one tab open is left as it is, since a group of one doesn’t help. Browser pages, like chrome://settings, aren’t grouped.

Add a tab to a group

Add to Group… lists the groups in this window, plus an option to start a new group. Pick one and the tab you’re on joins it.

Rename or leave a group

When the tab you’re on belongs to a group, two more commands appear.

Rename Current Group fills in the group’s current name. Type a new one and press Enter. You can also type group: to get there.

Ungroup This Tab takes the tab out of its group and leaves the rest of the group alone.

What to expect

These commands work on the window you’re in. Your groups are Chrome’s own, so Vokto doesn’t keep a copy of them. It checks what’s there each time you run a command.

For other ways to organize, see Switch and manage tabs and Rename a tab.
