Snooze tabs

Close a tab now and have it come back when you’re ready for it, like tomorrow morning or in two hours. Type the time in plain words.

Skip the menus: type snooze: in the palette.

Some tabs aren’t for now. A form you have to fill in on Monday, an article for the weekend, a dashboard you check after lunch. Snoozing closes the tab and brings it back at the time you choose, so it stops nagging you in the meantime.

Snooze a tab

  1. Open the palette and choose Snooze This Tab…, or type snooze:.
  2. Pick a preset, or type when you want the tab back.
  3. Press Enter. The tab closes.

The presets cover the usual cases: in 30 minutes, in 1 hour, in 3 hours, this evening, tomorrow morning, this weekend, and next week. “This evening” means 6 p.m., and the morning presets mean 9 a.m.

Say it your way

You don’t have to pick from a list. Type in 2 hours, tomorrow 9am, next Friday or May 21, and a row appears showing exactly when the tab will return. If Vokto can’t read the time, it says so and still shows the presets.

When the tab comes back

The tab reopens quietly in the background, in the same window if it’s still open, so it won’t pull you away from what you’re doing. A pinned tab comes back pinned, and a tab you renamed keeps its name.

Your computer can sleep or restart in the meantime. Snoozed tabs wait, and any that came due while it was off reopen when the browser starts again.

Change your mind

View Snoozed Tabs… lists everything that’s waiting, with the time each one returns. Pick a tab to open it now or cancel its snooze.

Private windows and browser pages like chrome://settings can’t be snoozed. Snoozed tabs are stored only in your browser.
