Changelog

What’s new

Every Vokto release, newest first. Chrome installs updates on its own, so there’s nothing you need to do to get them.

1.6.1

Maintenance release. Nothing changes in how Vokto works.

1.6.0

The palette now answers more questions on its own and gets better at guessing what you want.

  • Answers as you type. Paste a color like #9333ea to see it in other formats, type hello in german for a private, on-device translation, or type 100 usd in eur to check today’s rate with your search engine. Calculator and conversions and Translate have the details.
  • Keyword searches. Type yt:cats or gh:react to search YouTube, GitHub and a dozen other sites directly. See the full list.
  • It learns your picks. Choose the same result for the same search twice, and it comes first from then on. Reset Search Ranking… starts over.
  • Open tabs get reused. Opening a page that’s already open switches to that tab instead of loading it twice.
  • Run a row by number. Hold ⌥ Option or Alt and press 1–8.
  • Pick up where you left off. Closing the palette with the shortcut now keeps your search for next time.

1.5.0

More ways to get somewhere fast, and more tab and window commands.

  • Type an address to open it. github.com/vokto opens directly, and when nothing matches, a row offers to search the web for what you typed. ⌘ Cmd Enter (Ctrl Enter on Windows and Linux) opens it in a new tab. Open sites and search the web.
  • A smarter calculator. Ask for the time in another city, line up a meeting across time zones, count the days until a date, or convert units. Calculator and conversions.
  • Chrome’s own pages. Jump to Chrome’s settings, passwords, downloads or extensions in a couple of keystrokes. Browser pages.
  • New tab and window commands: New Window, Move Tab to Window…, Close Other Tabs… and Close Tabs to the Right…. The closing commands tell you how many tabs will go and ask first.
  • Clearer site data commands. Clear All Site Data is now Clear Website Data, and the confirmation names exactly what will be deleted.
  • Fixes. Backspace no longer deletes a character when you leave a submenu, and world-clock answers show the zero UTC offset correctly.

1.4.3

  • Realistic test data. The Randomizer can now make data that passes validation: test card numbers the payment providers accept in test mode, phone numbers reserved for fiction, real-looking US addresses and valid vehicle IDs. Random test data.
  • Searching for “share” now finds the copy-link commands.

1.4.2

Maintenance and security updates. Nothing changes in how Vokto works.

1.0.1–1.4.1

1.0.0

The first release. Vokto adds a command palette to every website: press ⌘ Cmd Shift K (Ctrl Shift K on Windows and Linux), type a few letters, and press Enter. It finds links on the page, your open tabs, your history and bookmarks, and dozens of actions, all without the mouse. Getting started.
