Work with the page

Act on selected text

Select some text on a page, open Vokto, and search for it, quote it with its source, or count its words.

Commands

Search Google
Look up the selected text on Google
Search Wikipedia
Look up the selected text on Wikipedia
Copy as Quote
Copy the text with the page’s title and link
Count Words
See how many words and characters you selected

You’ve highlighted a name or a phrase you don’t recognize. Instead of copying it, opening a new tab and pasting, keep it selected and open Vokto.

How it works

  1. Select text on the page.
  2. Open the palette. A Text Actions row appears, showing the start of what you selected.
  3. Press Enter on it and pick an action.

The row only shows up while something is selected, so it never gets in the way otherwise.

Look it up

Search Google and Search Wikipedia open a new tab with results for exactly what you selected.

Quote it with its source

Copy as Quote copies the text in quotation marks, followed by the page’s title and address. Paste it into an email, a note or a chat and the reader knows where it came from:

“The text you selected”

— Page title (https://example.com/article)

Count words

Count Words shows a short message with the number of words and characters in your selection. The palette stays open, so you can pick another action afterward. Use it when a form or a social post limits how much you can write.

More you can do with a selection

Translate Selection sends the text to Google Translate; see Translate pages and text. If you’ve turned on clipboard history, text you copy is kept there too.
