Find things
Search a site with a keyword
Type a short keyword and a colon, like yt: or wiki:, to search YouTube, Wikipedia or 13 other sites from the palette.
Searching one site usually means opening it, finding its search box and
typing. A keyword skips the first two steps. Type yt:cats, press
Enter, and you land on YouTube’s results for cats.
How it works
- Type a keyword and a colon, like
yt:. A space after the colon is fine. - The search box shows the keyword and the site’s name. Type what you’re looking for, and the row reads Search YouTube for “cats”.
- Press Enter to search in this tab, or ⌘ Cmd Enter (Ctrl Enter on Windows and Linux) for a new tab.
Before you type anything after the colon, the row reads Open YouTube and takes you to the site’s home page. ⌥ Option Enter (Alt Enter on Windows and Linux) offers Open in New Tab, Copy URL and Copy as Markdown.
The colon is what makes it a keyword. Without it, yt, so cool or
x ray stay ordinary searches. Capitals don’t matter. To leave a keyword,
press Backspace in the empty box, or Esc.

The wiki keyword searches the English Wikipedia. The list is fixed, so you
can’t add your own keywords.
When you forget a keyword
Type the site’s name, like “youtube”, and a row offers to search it. If you selected some text on the page first, it’s already filled in.
Help & Shortcuts… also lists every keyword. Pick one there to start searching with it.
Vokto doesn’t keep what you search this way. It hands your words to the site’s own search page, and that’s all.
