Find things

History and bookmarks

Find a page you visited last week or saved months ago. Type h: for history or b: for bookmarks, then a few words.

Commands

Bookmark This Page
Save the page you’re on to your bookmarks

You read something useful last Tuesday, and now you need it again. Rather than opening the history page and scrolling, type a few words you remember from its title or address.

Search your history

Type h: and then what you remember. Your history only shows up after h:, never in the regular search. The same page visited many times would otherwise crowd out everything else.

You don’t always need the prefix. When the regular search finds fewer than three matches, a row below them offers to search your history for what you typed.

Search your bookmarks

Bookmarks appear in the regular search as you type. Type b: first to see only bookmarks.

When the palette is empty, the History and Bookmarks buttons under the search box do the same as typing the prefix. Press Tab to reach them.

Open what you find

Enter opens the page in this tab. If it’s already open somewhere, Vokto switches to that tab instead of opening it twice.

⌥ Option Enter (Alt Enter on Windows and Linux) gives you more choices: Open, Open in New Tab, Copy URL and Copy as Markdown.

Save a bookmark

Bookmark This Page adds the page you’re on to your bookmarks, so it turns up in b: from then on.
